My family and live in different places in Jakarta. I used to occasionally go home to meet them. However, while my body was inside the house, sometimes I experienced that I was not really there. I was often too exhausted with my own things and I was not really get involved with the householdchores.

Since there is Covid-19 pandemics, I am worried about my family more than before. I understand that my family is included in vulnerable groups (my dad is 61 y.o, my mom is 59 y.o, and my nephew is just 3 y.o).This makes me feel more concerned about their health and safety. Since Jakarta enters transition phase to ease the period of Covid-19 restrictions, I went home to meet my parents and make sure that they are fine.

When I was home, I was awakened by my nephew. He urged me to ride a bicycle around the house. While my nephew played, my dad cleaned the house, and my mom cooked, a typical family in Indonesia. In the afternoon, we were busy with our own things. Later, we gathered again at the evening to pray — a new normal since the crisis.

Pandemics told me to appreciate everything I have, before it turns into what I had. Enjoy being with family while it lasts and getting involved with their activities is the thing I love. I realize someday I will cherish it when it’s gone.
